Deadhead OG hasn’t been around very long, but it has quickly become a popular selection in California. With legendary heritage, it’s no wonder why this strain has quickly won the hearts of recreational and medical cannabis consumers alike. Deadhead OG is upbeat enough to promote focus and perhaps a giggle fit or two. Yet, this strain’s easygoing nature can help you relax, unwind, and enjoy the day.

Deadhead OG first entered the scene in 2011, thanks to breeder Skunk Va from The Cali Connection. A hybrid cross between Chemdawg 91 and San Fernando Valley OG Kush (SFV OG Kush), Deadhead OG is a potent sativa-dominant strain.

The majority of Deadhead’s lineage stems from Chemdawg, the mysterious and legendary hybrid fabled to have birthed OG Kush and Sour Diesel.

The THC content is about 20% on average, though samples of this strain can reach as high as 25%. As might be expected from a sativa-dominant strain, the high from Deadhead OG is largely cerebral and head focused.

Due to its potency, this strain may cause anxiety in novice consumers or when used in high doses.

Some might find the aroma of Deadhead OG to be similar to that of OG Kush. Deadhead features strong notes of a sharp pine fragrance. However, it’s also fairly pungent and is known to cause a stink.

Flavor wise, hints of earth and a sharp spice make up the taste, giving this herb a warm quality.

The Deadhead OG high has quickly become a West Coast favorite. This happy and uplifting bud is a great reflection of the laidback attitude of the region.

Though this strain produces a strong mental high, Deadhead also cultivates a mild slow and relaxed heavy-bodied sensation. The overall combination is chill and easy, a great all-around daytime herb.

While it does have some physical effects, this strain isn’t one that will leave you stuck on the couch. Rather, being out and about for some movement and fun with friends fits the bill. Within fifteen minutes of consuming Deadhead OG, it’s common to experience a positive upbeat mood and a lifted, euphoric spirit.

This strain is a great one to take along to a happy hour or take a quick puff of before lunch. Deadhead OG is known to inspire the munchies, so having a few appetizers around won’t hurt.

Though this strain is long-lasting, some report that it can cause a headache, this may be more likely as the experience begins to wind down.

Deadhead OG would be a great strain to take along to a concert or music festival. This flower isn’t the best choice for staying up all night, but it is excellent for low-key events that may or may not involve some dancing.

Recreational consumers will also enjoy this strain as a quick way to de-stress and focus on a project.

Medical cannabis patients often pick up this strain for mental health conditions, like anxiety, depression, and stress-related conditions. Thanks to some indica heritage, many find that this strain provides relief from mild and moderate aches and pains.

While the effects of Deadhead OG are generally thought to be stimulating, this strain is relaxed enough to make it easy to fall asleep.
